How TJ Cable is Bringing Fiber-Optic Technology to Your Neighborhood
If you’ve noticed our trucks working in your area, you might be curious about what we’re up to. TJ Cable & Underground Services is proud to announce that we’re building out a cutting-edge fiber-optic network in our community!
This one-time infrastructure project is designed to bring your community years of lightning-fast internet and seamless TV streaming capabilities. Our state-of-the-art fiber technology is built to last, providing reliable, high-speed connections for residential homes, businesses, and corporations alike.
Step-by-Step Process for Getting Fiber Optic Lines from the Source to a Home or Business
At TJ Cable & Underground Services, we take pride in bringing cutting-edge fiber-optic technology to your community. Here’s a simplified look at the process we follow to build a reliable network from start to finish:
STEP 1: Design and Engineering
We begin by designing a custom network plan. This includes determining where the infrastructure will go, minimizing ground disturbance, and ensuring maximum coverage. Once the plan is finalized, we work with local municipalities to gain approval.
STEP 2: Securing Permissions
We collaborate with local governments to secure permits and access utility easements—designated areas for infrastructure work. Easements are commonly found between the sidewalk and street or small strips on private property. These approvals allow us to build and maintain the network safely.
STEP 3: Preparing the Site
Before construction begins, we identify and mark underground utilities using colored flags and paint. These markings are essential for preventing damage and ensuring safety.
STEP 4: Installing Conduit
We lay bright orange plastic tubes, called conduits, to protect fiber-optic cables and make future maintenance easier. Using a boring machine, we install these conduits underground with minimal impact to your yard. We also install pedestals (green utility boxes) or underground hand holes to connect cables at key points. Once the conduit is in place, we backfill and restore the ground, often reseeding with grass for a seamless finish.
Step 5: Running Fiber-Optic Cable
Fiber-optic cables are then pulled through the installed conduits and connected to pedestals and larger hub boxes. This step creates the backbone of the network, preparing it for individual connections.
STEP 6: Connecting Homes and Businesses
When the main network is ready, we begin the process of connecting individual properties through a fiber drop. This involves running a fiber line from the network access point to your home or business. We’ll notify you in advance, and in some cases, pre-install a protective conduit and connection device before services go live.
STEP 7: Installing Your Services
Once everything is in place, a technician from your Internet Service Provider will install an Optical Network Terminal (ONT) and a wireless-enabled modem in your home or business. This final step gets you connected and ready to enjoy the benefits of fiber internet.
At TJ Cable, we’re dedicated to providing state-of-the-art fiber infrastructure while minimizing disruption to your property. Thank you for your patience as we build a stronger, faster, and more connected community!
